Farmer in Chief

Do you think President-Elect Obama would consider Michael Pollan for Secretary of Agriculture? Now that would be a good change. The reason I'm pondering this is that I finally had time to read the open letter Mr. Pollan wrote to the president-elect in the NY Times three weeks ago (here's the link).

If you ever wanted to truly understand the various food chains of the American food system, I would encourage you to read The Omnivore's Dilemma, which he wrote a few years ago. His most recent book (also great) is In Defense of Food: An Eater's Manifesto, which provides more everyday use info. Both are most likely available through your local library, and while I don't agree with his every point, it's about as practical and logical as I've found so far.
